A high-tech display manufacturer was experiencing excessive scrap on key component within product. Our engineering and quality subject matter experts applied techniques of detection, containment, cause chain evaluation, and action determination. Changes at the sub-tier supplier and in process test/inspection saved customer $500K + per year.
A KBR customer was in the process of negotiating a follow-on contract with one of their major/end-user customers. The end-user was considering going to competitor with the follow-on contract. One of our certified KBR Program Managers presented financial, and delivery performance, along with other compelling data to show the value of awarding the contract to the incumbent (our customer). The value proposition developed by KBR enabled the follow-on contract award to the KBR customer for revenue exceeding $1.5M.
One of our customers contacted us regarding a challenge they were having with extremely low first pass yields (approx. 15%) on a machined assembly; significant amount of rework was being expended to make parts compliant to print. Rework costs were deteriorating part margin. Our Six Sigma/Lean talent was deployed to the customer location. Within 4 months after recommended actions for process, documentation, and tooling changes were implemented, part yields stabilized at 80%; and rework went to all-time lows. Through our Continuous Improvement training with site resources, plans are in place to drive the yield up further.
A complex machining manufacturer was struggling with 60% on time delivery and recovery to customer demand. After performing a baseline assessment the determining cause was excessive machine set up times and poor WIP management that inhibited product flow. Machine setup reduction and material management and replenishment projects were completed. These projects resulted a 50 % reduction in set-up time and a 45% reduction in cycle resulting in a shift to +80% on time delivery
